Last month Hummingbird Bakery published their second cook book titled ‘Cake Days’ and of course, I had to get my hands on a copy. On first impression I love the front cover, well I suppose I would with it’s striking Magenta colours – it was no surprise that I was immediately drawn to it on the bookshelf 
Inside the cover, the pictures of their beautiful swirled cupcakes are styled and photographed to the same, if not a greater standard, to those taken in their first book.
The book also conveys a certain warmth and friendliness, through its writing style, use of colours and the Baking Essentials section. They have obviously taken on board feedback from their first book, and seem to go out of their way to help bakers achieve cupcakes that will match those they see in the pictures.
I can’t wait to try recipes from the book! I have decided to share the experience on this blog, so watch this space for a regular review of various recipes from ‘Cake Days’, which will become a monthly feature on the blog.
In the interim, I resurrected the old ‘Hummingbird Bakery Cook Book’ and baked a batch of their Traditional Brownies for a group of ladies that came to my ’Cupcake Decorating Class’. They are the best brownies I’ve tasted, and always go down a storm.
