Day 25 of our ’30 day Countdown to Christmas’ series.

For today’s Fun Friday post (which is also day 25 of our ‘Countdown to Christmas’ series) take a look at this ‘Angry Birds’ Christmas cake.  It’s a fun take on a Christmas cake and one which my 4 year old son would go crazy for.

Have a lovely weekend, I will be posting over the weekend as part of our Christmas countdown. Join me if you can for Christmas inspiration in your home and kitchen.

Happy Baking !

I had to share with you these fun Christmas rudolph cookies.  All you need is a cookie, piped chocolate, a red candy sweet such as a Skittle or M&M, and a tiny amount of sugar glue. They are so simple, but look so effective!

Fun Fridays ~ Kiefer Sutherland in TV Cupcake Advert.

0

September 14th, 2012

It’s been a while since we had a Fun Friday post, so what better way to kick them off again by showing you this hilarious advert featuring Kiefer Sutherland.

One of our previous students wrote to me to show me this video, as she thought we’d love to share this with the wider cake community.

In a ad campaign for computer company Acer’s Aspire S5 Ultrabook™ from Mother, Sutherland is back in his Jack Bauer character from the popular TV series ’24′ but this time he’s showing his softer side – making cup cakes. For further details on the story behind the advert click here.

Sit back and enjoy, it’s bound to make you smile!

Until next time…

Fun Fridays ~ Chocolate Easter Chicks

1

March 30th, 2012

I have a a big weakness for Cadbury’s Creme Egg’s, so when I came across these chocolate Easter chicks by A Mummy Too, I just had to share them with you.

Have you seen the chick with the red horns, and the chick furthest to the right has a Mohican ( a.k.a Mohawk if you’re outside the UK).

These are so much fun, and A Mummy Too has kindly shared how to make these. For more details please visit her blog here.

Have a great weekend!

Fun Fridays ~ Easter Egg Cupcakes.

March 23rd, 2012

The fabulous Cupcake Project blog created these wonderful Easter egg cupcakes that are baked in real egg shells.

With the Easter holidays nearly upon us, this would be an ideal baking project for children to get involved in, whilst having some fun!

To decorate the eggs, I would remove all of the shell once the cakes have baked and cooled. Experiment with dipping them in melted chocolate or poured fondant, and covering them with coloured sprinkles.

Check out the Cupcake Project blog here for a recipe, and a step by step guide on how to clean and prepare the shells.

If you have any other suggestions on toppings and decor, I’d love to hear from you. ;)

Have a fun Friday everyone!

March 16th, 2012

I recently discovered the craft website Skip to My Lou. They are passionate about sharing their craft resources which includes tutorials, free printables and they have a catalogue of ideas for those who love to make home made gifts.

As it’s St Patrick’s day on 17th March, I thought I would share with you their Chenille Lepreachaun cupcake toppers. How hilarious are these? Lots of fun, I couldn’t help but chuckle :)

To discover how to create these toppers, Skip to my Lou have a tutorial available on their site,  which includes a free hat printable – how cool is that!

Fun Fridays ~ Easter Cupcake Toppers

March 9th, 2012

I wanted to share with you these fun cupcake toppers by Etsy shop NHA Creatives.  I love the colours associated with Easter, so naturally I was drawn to these playful toppers.

You can either print off the design and make them yourself by attaching them to cocktail sticks, or they’ll print and assemble them for you for an additional cost.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fun Fridays ~ Oreo Owl Cupcakes

February 24th, 2012

Via Nicolehill.blogspot.com

These fun owl cupcakes caught my eye for today’s Fun Friday post by nicolehill.blogspot.com.

To make an owl, pull apart an oreo cookie to make the large eyes. Use a chocolate candy for the centre, and another candy sweet for the nose.  I would probably chose ’Smarties’ sweets ( if you’re in the UK) as they come in various colours.

Place these on top of a chocolate frosted cupcake and voila!

Have a great weekend and happy baking!
