Personally it’s been a busy January so far. Okay I admit the number of people interested in eating cake tends to decrease for the first couple of weeks in January.
It’s also the time to get those tax returns completed and to implement plans for Magenta Cakes for the coming year. I’ll feeling very excited about 2012, and look forward to sharing my plans with you very soon.
The hubby and I also took off for a weekend away to the city of Bath. I’ve never visited before and my dear mum in law offered to look after little S for the weekend which was very sweet of her.
All my friends spoke really highly of Bath and I can see why. Beautiful old Georgian buildings, vintage boutiques, quaint tea shops, there is so much to feed your inspiration.
One of my favourite shops was ‘The Makery’. They sell sewing, textiles and craft accessories, but are primarily known for running craft & sewing workshops.
I found bucket loads of inspiring and cute finds such as bakers twine, wooden carved stamps (these are perfect for embossing cupcakes), pretty ribbon wrapped around wooden clothes pegs, Cath Kidston material swatches, vintage brooches, and buttons displayed
in all colours of the rainbow.
Although not directly linked to cakes, I find that all things crafty can inspire you in your cake decorating. Just seeing the bright colours and patterns of materials stacked on the shelves, wetted my creative appetite.
If you’re visiting this fabulous city then please check out ‘The Makery’ you won’t be disappointed.
